Beautiful message: The poor boy: The rich boy

by admin

You were born in a first class hospital, I was delivered at home, we both survived.

You went to a private primary school and I went to a public school, we both ended in the same high school.

You woke up from the bed and I woke from the floor, we both had a peaceful night rest.

Your outfits are all expensive, mine are all simple and cheap, we both still cover our nakedness.

You ate fried rice and roasted chicken, I ate local made food but we both still ate to our satisfaction.

You ride on Lexus jeep, Range Rover, G Wagon, Hummer Jeep and I use public transport but we still got to our various destination.

You may be reading this post from your Sony xperia, BB Z10, Q10, Samsung Galaxy 6edge, IPhone6+ and I typed it with my Touch one broken screen, we still see the message.

Lifestyle is not a competition and there are different ways to get a lot of things done, different lanes all leading to the same destination. Just because your neighbour is doing things faster does not mean you are failing.

Happiness doesn’t come from having everything, but making the best out of what you have, it’s all about how you see yourself.

Happiness is not having what you like. Happiness is liking what you have and being content…

You must never ask a woman her age and a man his salary.
Do you know why, Have you ever thought about it..
Well here is a beautiful insight…
It is wrong to ask a woman her age because she hardly ever lives for herself!
And it is wrong to ask a man his salary because he hardly ever spends on himself!.

Imagine living in a world devoid of communication. Everything would be so lonely, there would be so much loss for ideas, emotions, thoughts could not be shared.

Communication is what we do every day, every moment. It’s a very simple and palpable idea, but there’s a difference between just being a communicator and being a good communicator.

There are different forms of communication. Like verbal communication, non-verbal communication, written communication, and now the medium has evolved to smses, social media etc etc.

Furthermore, communication is not always without it’s many a time within as well. Like writing a diary, talking in the head and contemplating.

But we will get there later.

Here, we would begin with the basic idea of communication.

Many would believe that communication is merely about passing on a message.  However, it’s a much broader concept. It’s not merely about the message, but the manner in which it is put across. The way you talk, the words, the tone, the sentences, the emotion, everything matters.

Theoretically, communication is a two way process, which involves a sender, receiver and the message.

But as a journalist, what I have realised is that the most important part of communication is the feedback. The focus should not be entirely on what you want to say, but what you want the receiver to understand.

For example, the other day I was talking to a new joinee and I started explaining about the philosophy of existentialism. I got so excited with the idea that I kept on talking without realising that the listener had no clue what I was blabbering about.

I was focussing entirely on what I wanted to say, rather than what the other person could comprehend.

I realised my mistake seeing the person’s blank expression and asked questions on what he did not understand. This way he became interested and the communication became more directed and meaningful.

And the fact is he was not even interested in the topic of existentialism. So at times, it’s not about what you know, or what you intend to say, but what interests the receiver. There will be moments when a most mundane of a message will have to be conveyed. There one has to be smart enough to communicate interestingly and effectively.

Thus, each part- the sender, the receiver, the message, the form, the feedback- is important.

Focus on the receiver and how the message would be conveyed in its entirety. Sometimes, we feel, while talking or writing, the message has been conveyed, but at times our perception may be wrong.

Pay attention to the content as well as the form. They key is to get a feedback.

A good communicator takes everything into account.

Ponder on what has been said and soon I shall unveil more skills about communication. You can share your views in the comment box below.
