The monsoon season is all about unexpected downpours, hot tea with fritters, and protracted talks. But it is also the time of year when seasonal ailments like dengue, malaria, and diarrhea spread widespread. Therefore, it is crucial to maintain your health and fitness throughout these wet months.
According to nutritionist Dr. Rachna Agarwal, “the extreme change in temperature and humidity that occurs during the rainy season reduces the body’s immune system and renders it vulnerable to bacterial and viral infection.”
One has to increase their intake of specific immune boosters in order to avoid such diseases and seasonal problems. Nutritionist Lovneet Batra posted on Instagram, “It’s time to refresh your grocery list with these foods to battle the seasonal illnesses during monsoon.”
The following items were recommended by specialists to stave off seasonal illnesses during monsoon!
1. Indian basil, also known as tulsi, is revered as a sacred plant. It boosts energy levels and relieves stress.
2. Garlic: Lovneet Batra referred to garlic as “a miraculous food,” adding that “allicin, a chemical contained in garlic, helps to stimulate the immune system and so defend our body against numerous ailments.”
3. Black pepper: According to experts, black pepper has carminative properties that help reduce the chance of intestinal gas and other digestive problems including constipation.
4. According to Lovneet Batra, who referred to turmeric as a “wonder plant,” its anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, and antibacterial compounds can help you fight infections and strengthen your immune system. Because it is nutrient-rich, turmeric is beneficial for general health.
