Everyone in the house must respect the breathing space. Avoid unnecessary yelling or fighting. It is a precious spot that restores our sanity and keeps us balanced. It provides us a respite from our hectic routine and prepares us to face the world with optimism and fortitude. Sitting here, we may examine our troublesome ideas, and their origins, and gain a better understanding of how to quiet our muddled thoughts and govern the mind.
Our appreciation of a location is determined by the energy we produce inside ourselves. A room with the greatest interior design might be frigid and unwelcoming, yet one with minimal furnishings and open space can relax a tired mind.
It is entirely up to us how we choose to adorn our breathing area. Flowers or fish in an aquarium, colorful stones in a jar, images of our loved ones, or simply keeping things simple and calm. Whatever brings us comfort becomes our breathing space. Early in the morning, the ringing of bells or the blowing of the conch fills the house with energy and certainty.
If we desire, we can preserve an image or idol of the deity we worship because every time we bend before it, we sense the presence of God who oversees the universe and cares for all creation. We are whole when we are linked to God. Many problems are settled, and peace reigns. When we travel to a holy site, we go with the belief that here is the residence of the Supreme Power. So, why not create a spiritual sanctuary at home as well?
Praying is like enjoying all of God’s creations. It naturally makes us smile and fills us with piety. Praying or practicing breathing meditation is a method to honor the world around us, our traditions, ancestors, legacy, and the natural world.
