5 Ways You Can Discover Your True Self

Acknowledging oneself is one of the most valuable qualities one can have; as Aristotle famously said, “Knowing oneself is the beginning of all wisdom.”

Once you know yourself, you understand what path is best for you, and rather than relying on others for approval, you can make more confident judgments. You can march to the beat of your rhythm when you are your authentic self.

So, how can you find your elusive “real self”? Here are five pointers to get you started:

1. Identify your values

Our values have an impact on our thoughts, words, and actions; they’re vital because they help us stay motivated, evolve, and create our sense of self. Understanding your values might help you make better decisions about your objectives and life path. Your values, as well as the steadfast ideas, emotions, and feelings that define you, are the bedrock of your genuine self.

2. Make a note of it.

Right now, who are you? Ask yourself this question and make a list of who you are right now. Make a list of your qualities and ideals, as well as any negative or restricting thoughts that come to mind.

If negative thoughts do arise, try to address the underlying causes. We often spend a lot of time thinking about who we want to be in the future, yet our genuine selves are revealed in the current moment, where we are right now.

4. Examine your relationships.

Jim Rohn, a motivational speaker, famously claimed that we are the average of the five people with whom we spend the most time. Check to see if you’re spending time with folks that encourage you. Do you want to be inspired? And inspire you to be your most genuine, honest self.

If you aren’t, it may be time to reconsider your friendships. Possessing positive role models and a solid support network will help you develop self-assurance and self-assurance.

5. Simulation

Visualization and meditation are effective strategies for gaining insight into one’s inner self. Contemplate your deep inner self, meditate on how it feels, and then move forth with faith in who you are.

The search for your true self is a never-ending and exhilarating adventure. As human beings, we are continuously evolving and growing, so it’s critical to give yourself time to take stock, check in, and find yourself.
