Start your day a few minutes earlier than usual. Consider how your body feels or how the light is streaming into the room before getting out of bed or reaching for your phone. Take a couple of deep breaths. Consider taking a moment to express thankfulness for another day of opportunities. Alternatively, consume your morning coffee or tea attentively by putting down your phone and focusing on the flavor, scent, temperature, and textures of your cup.
Pay attention to the sights, sounds, and fragrances of the environment while you walk along the beach, along a wooded forest path, or anywhere else in nature. When your mind wanders into thoughts, gently bring your focus back to your surroundings. What does it do to your heart? Does it move you? If so, how so? Be inquisitive.

Take note of the colors or patterns on their skin, coat, or feathers. Consider how it feels to touch them. Is it soft, fluffy, smooth, or scaly? Take note of how they react to your touch and speech. If you’re doing an activity together, such as walking a dog or riding a horse, pay attention to your physical bodies as you move.
Mastering a new skill or improving your knowledge of a subject is a fantastic method to develop yourself and cultivate mindfulness if you have a natural drive to study. Many hobbies are intrinsically thoughtful activities that might assist us in achieving life balance. Gardening, cooking, knitting/crocheting, learning an instrument, or model construction are just a few examples of hobbies that might put you in the “flow state,” or a condition in which you are completely involved.
