How Does Yoga Help In Self Realization?

Even if yoga is commonly thought of as strength training associated with emotional relief and fitness, there is much more to this ancient practice than meets the eye. At its cornerstone, yoga enables us to make long-term life changes by knowing and understanding ourselves better and taking control of our emotional, physical, and psychological well-being. Yoga, in conjunction with mental health care, can help us improve our self-awareness and live more empowered, healthier lifestyles.

In Eastern philosophies, yoga philosophy, psychological theories, and other divine schools of thought, the concept “self-realization” is used. Self-realization denotes a condition in which a person understands who they truly are and is content with that awareness. It is said that if a person achieves self-realization, their fresh perspective and comprehension of themselves bring them sustained, permanent happiness.

Self-realization entails letting go of several aspects of personal identity in order to discover the authentic Identity. The distinction is between identifying with the ego and identifying with the true self.

Yoga is one method for achieving self-realization. Yoga, when used as part of a spiritual practice, can help practitioners honor themselves, let go of their egos, and reach a new level of awareness. When we become more aware of our habits, we can accept them and eventually decide to make small, gradual changes.

If we continue our yoga practice, as with any healthy habit, we may find that we are preventing chronic physical or emotional strain from building up overtime as it allows us to self-reflect. By beginning to reduce your self-criticism, you may discover that you are spending more hours of your day feeling happier than you were previously.
