Lata Mangeshkar 5 Songs That Will Bring You Instant Peace

It’s a voice that no Indian can avoid hearing. The voice has tormented Indians for many years, delectably high, the notes rendered clearly until the final bar, the sentences uttered with remarkable panache. Latabai Mangeshkar, a playback singer, has a sway that even the country’s Rs 100-crore film industry’s movie tycoons can only dream of.

Her voice has a wonderful quality to it. Her range is extensive. Her facial expressions are always spot on. She’s also incapable of singing off-key.

It’s no surprise that the female stars of the day insisted on Lata singing the songs that were filmed on them. Even if she wasn’t the composer’s initial choice, she was almost always the top choice. Here are some of India’s most memorable songs that will bring you peace and serene:

1. Lag Jaa gale… (Woh Kaun Thi?)

This is one of the most well-known Indian songs. There aren’t many songs that are better than this one. Madan Mohan, the genius whose inspiration was Lata, created this beautiful music for the 1964 film. You won’t be able to stop listening to it since it’s so lovely. Many vocalists have attempted covers of this classic, but none have been able to capture the song’s spirit as well as Lata.

2. Naina Barse Rim Jhim (Woh Kaun Thi)

The song was the focus of wonderful music in Raj Khosla’s psychological thriller, a terrifying tale about a strange woman (Sadhana) who comes before a driver on a wet night singing “Naina Barse Rim Jhim Rhim Jhim” before disappearing into a graveyard.

3. Ae dil e naadaan… (Razia Sultan)

Khayyam, the last of the renowned composers to passed away recently, may have chosen Asha Bhosle to sing most of the songs in his masterpiece Umrao Jaan, but he appealed to the eldest sister Lata Mangeshkar for this exquisitely lovely tune. It became one of the best songs of the 1980s thanks to Lata’s soulful version.

4. Ek Tu Hi Bharosa (Pukar)

In a lackluster film that stood out largely for its music, Rahman reunited with Mangeshkar for one of her final song performances. Anil Kapoor plays a soldier who saves a politician who has been kidnapped.

5. Chalte chalte… (Pakeezah)

The epic tribute to director Kamal Amrohi’s wife Meena Kumari is still remembered for the talented actress’s outstanding performance in her final film and an out-of-this-world musical score composed by Ghulam Mohammed and Naushad.
