Nowadays, negativity tends to capture your mind very easily as compared to positivity. Negativity has dominated our minds. The main cause of this rising negativity is the competition that has increased in the world, the so-called beauty standards, and trying to fit in the perfect standards of society.

The illusion of these thoughts, to be perfect and to be the individual the society expects, starts from your mind. The negativity in your mind stops you from achieving peace and happiness in your life. The only thing it leads to is stress. So you need to take control of your thoughts.

Here is how you can take control of your negative thoughts

1. Meditation

It may not appear as if meditation really helps you control your mind, particularly when you first start out. You sit, relax, but no matter how hard you try to clear your head, random thoughts keep popping back up to divert you from the calmness you’re trying to obtain. But you should try hard and keep your mind away from thoughts.

Meditation really can help change your mind, but you have to stick with it. As you become more mindful, you’ll notice you no longer require to constantly pull your attention back from bothering or distracting thoughts.

2. Change your perspective

Self-talk can go a long way towards enabling you to change your mindset, but the manner you talk to yourself matters. Changing your perspective assists to trick your mind into deeming yourself as another person, lending you the distance from your own hardships. This also has helped when it comes to cheering yourself. People also incline to accept support from outside more readily than motivation from within.

3. Focus on positives

Positive thinking is another reappraisal technique that can support you to regain control over your viewpoint. Reframing your thoughts won’t change the existing outcome of a situation, but it can differ the way you feel about your situation. Criticizing yourself will likely just make you feel terrible. Self-compassion, however, can enable you to accept the disappointment in your way and turn your attention toward the next opportunity you get.
