Individuals mind is filled with both negativity as well as positivity. We tend to love positivity and we ignore negativity. Because when we concentrate on negative thoughts we tend to harm ourselves. So instead of thinking of negativity in a negative way or as a bad thing, you can learn from negativity or negative thoughts.

1. Observe your emotions without judging

It is necessary for you to observe your emotions whether it’s negative or positive. But when you observe your emotions remember to not judge them.However, you feel is fine.

Emotions are attention-getting devices that the mind utilizes to help you understand your thoughts. When you observe your emotions you get to know more about them. So observe your emotions, ask questions to yourself like, when you feel happy? When do you feel sad or angry?

2. Notice the thoughts behind the emotions

Emotions are caused by thoughts. You can approach these thoughts by asking “Why?” Why are you worried? Why do you feel unhappy? Why are you furious? The thoughts behind the emotion can show you, your mind’s misunderstandings because any thought that causes a negative emotion is mostly caused by an assumption, which is not always true. So thinks of the thoughts which you have in your mind that is resulting in negative emotions.

3. Look at the “evidence” for your belief

Your mind can only see evidence for what it already believes. So you need to look for evidence for what your mind is believing. You can look for what experiences or conversations is your mind using to prove its “negative thought” true. Find the evidence related to it.

4. Come up with other possibilities

If you face a difficult situation and you know that this situation can lead to negative emotions then instead of taking it negatively, try to come up with other possibilities.

For eg. If at your workplace someone shouts at you, then you may feel that it is because you were not worthy of a particular work or you may think of other such reasons but instead you can think of possibilities like, it can be because that person had a bad day or the person is not feeling well so he must have removed the frustration on you.
