Reiki is a Japanese word that means “universal life force energy,” which is the life-giving energy that everyone possesses. The easiest approach to think of Reiki is to think of it as our “felt sense of being alive.” Reiki is a gentle touch therapy that involves the therapist or patient laying their hands on various parts of the patient’s body to encourage relaxation and serenity.
Reiki is a meditative practice that uses light touch to encourage relaxation, relieve stress and anxiety, and promote a happy mental state. Reiki self-treatment allows you to receive the benefits of the therapy in the comfort of your own home. During your Reiki self-treatment, there are ten postures that you can do.
Make an effort to follow the hand position directions in the order they are listed below. However, you are free to make any changes you believe will benefit you. It is recommended that you perform each hand position for 2 minutes for a 20-minute self-treatment, but don’t stress about the precise time. Some of the hand positions may need you to hold them for longer periods than others.
You will memorize the hand placements with practice. Don’t stress about getting the hand positioning exactly right. Simply relax and give it you’re all. That’ll have to suffice. Finally, feel free to place your hands on any additional parts of your body that you believe require relaxation or healing.
