“Enjoying life and being happy are the most essential things; that’s all that matters.” Adèle Hepburn
Have you ever felt as though you were in the “depths of despair” and there was no way out? Or the feeling of attempting everything yet still being surrounded by gloom?
You are not alone.
We live in a society that is becoming more and more negative; a world where people who wish to be happy are frequently characterized as odd or selfish (or both!)
Consult these 7 typical happiness mistakes if you’re feeling down and like nothing you do is making a difference.
1. External factors affect your happiness.
Genuine enjoyment originates inside. If happiness always depends on something else, it can never be constant.
You will never be genuinely happy if your happiness depends on how many kilometers you run, how many friends you have, or how many promotions you get.
2. Your fear of being alone.
Despite the fact that being alone is lovely, many individuals are afraid of it. But regardless of whether you are among people or alone, pleasure can only be sustained if it comes from inside. If you are afraid of being alone, you will never be completely happy.
3. You let other people’s happiness influence your own.
One and only one person should determine your level of happiness: you.
You have a problem if you realize that you need other people’s approval in order to feel good about yourself. Try saying to yourself something like, “I am more than enough.”
4. You are unable to distinguish between self-awareness and self-hatred.
Self-loathing involves judging your own behaviors, traits, thoughts, and feelings; self-awareness is accepting your feelings and thoughts as they come and go without judgment.
5.You assess your life against that of others.
Living in the technological era has certain undeniable drawbacks, including the growing ability for us to compare our lives to those of others. With the help of Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms, it is quite simple to get glimpses into the lives of others and make comparisons to our own.
6. You associate with pessimists.
Our surroundings help to shape who we are. It makes a big difference who you hang out with; if you spend time with people that pull you up, encourage you, and support you, your life will go in the right direction.
7. You work a job you despise.
We commit more than forty hours a week to our work (and most of the time, it’s closer to fifty or more). That makes up a sizable portion of our everyday life. We will almost certainly become dissatisfied if we devote these hours to jobs we loathe.
