It’s a given that we wish to have control over the uncontrollable aspects of our lives, believing that this will lead to happiness. Accepting what is and letting go of what you can’t control equals happiness. Because what appears to be simple is frequently difficult to put into practice in real life. We want happiness to fill a hole in our lives, but not at the expense of the struggle and challenges that come with it. However, the pain and struggle serve as a warning to quit trying to change things that are beyond our control.
When people believe they have to be happy all of the time, they begin to believe there is something wrong with them when they aren’t. It makes some situations intolerable since you are attempting to be cheerful while you are unhappy or experiencing another feeling. Because you subscribe to the belief that happiness is the most essential thing, the constant fake and pretending becomes tiring and finally leads to despair.
Acceptance is what you require. Accepting yourself as you are at any given time gives you freedom and happiness. When you fully embrace yourself as you are, you will thrive and progress. Accepting oneself entails acknowledging your feelings rather than denying or suppressing them. Instead of tyrannising and punishing yourself because you’re experiencing bad or unpleasant emotions, you’re aware of it.
When you accept yourself as you are, you will find a way to sort things out. You must realise and see your reality for what it is, no matter how unpleasant that may be. There is no single moment when you must accept yourself; rather, it is every day and every time you try to tell yourself a different tale than the one you already have. When your ego is in charge, it’s at all times. Listening to your intuition is a goal and an exercise in this project.
When you embrace yourself, face the terrible stories you’ve been telling yourself, and stop judging yourself, true growth occurs. Now you can see yourself as you are, rather than as you wish your life to be. To create the life you want, you must first accept yourself for who you are and where you are right now. Recognize the aspects of yourself that you don’t want to hear.
