Fundamental beliefs that control society are referred to as core values. These ideas assist humans in distinguishing between right and wrong. Core values are constant and do not change from one individual to the next or over time.

Integrity, faith, trust, loyalty, humanity, honesty, personal safety, self-respect, giving back, patriotism, and so on are just a few examples.

Your core values serve as a set of guidelines for your behaviours. You will be satisfied if your behaviours, that is, whatever you are doing right now, are consistent with the basic principles. When you behave against one of the essential values, though, you will experience internal conflict, and your happiness may be jeopardised.

When it comes to personal values, you have the freedom to change or reprioritize them. However, essential ideals must be firmly adhered to. Compromise with them can have terrible ramifications. Let’s look at why you shouldn’t sacrifice your essential ideals. As Mahatma Gandhi said, “there can be no give and take on fundamentals. Any compromise on mere fundamentals is surrender. For it is all given and no take.” Compromise entails relinquishing control. You lose self-respect when you accept what you know by heart is against something of significant value.

Quality standards are lowered as a result of compromise. When you are unable to meet the highest standards, you must compromise. You settle for something that isn’t genuine. You put your hopes and goals in jeopardy. You make do with something less than what you need.

Compromising leads to inconsistency. You lose your identity when you accept anything to please others. You don’t make decisions based on facts and values. They’re predicated on what other people think is appropriate.

You lose your moral compass. When you perform something that goes against your inner ideals, you may be able to get your task done briefly.

However, in the long run, you lose since your morale is low. It may push you to make the same error over and over again. In a spiritual sense, you are the creator of your karmas. You will have to pay a high price at some point in the future.
