Selfish behaviour is frequently advanced in the different features of Western culture, but then, this isn’t a brilliant way to be satisfied and happy. It is not necessarily the case that individuals shouldn’t pay special attention to themselves or settle on brilliant choices that are helpful for their prosperity. Considering only your benefits and goods becomes self-centred when a person’s moves to better themselves occur to the detriment of others. Numerous self-obsessed people find different approaches to legitimize their conduct, yet it doesn’t change the truth that being narrow-minded or selfish won’t satisfy and make you happy. The reasons for the same are as follows: –
Everyone loses respect for you – You just become ‘that selfish guy’ to everyone and lose everyone’s respect. All your friends and relatives try to distance themselves from you. To be respected, you have to respect others, which is not possible if you are always being selfish. Selfishness makes things better for but it makes things difficult for people around you. At first, you may enjoy the benefits you are gaining from being selfish but its negatives effects begin to manifest with time.
You miss out the essence of life – Selfishness makes you blind to see the true meaning of life. You are always in the rush to win and grab the prize for yourself or reach the destination in the first place and get so engrossed in it that you fail to enjoy the journey. Being good to others, being considerate makes others like you and they bring newer opportunities for you. Having a friend circle and maintaining interaction with others makes you grow personally. It makes you less competitive and allows you to enjoy.
What goes around comes back around – You must be remembering this phrase by the name of something called ‘Karma’. Whatever you do to hurt others for the sole purpose of winning, you will be held accountable for that in future. Maybe not today or tomorrow or even years later, but you will suffer the consequences of your actions. So, choose to be considerate and grateful to others instead of being selfish.
You gain nothing valuable – While you race to finish in the first place, you miss out on great learning opportunities and fail to gain experience. To live a completely satisfied life, one must learn and grasp as much knowledge and experience he can. Otherwise, you are just a childish competitive person who lacks maturity.
