6 popular myths about health and fitness

While getting into a healthy fitness routine, we come across many myths that are being followed. We should know the difference and identify those myths and study them carefully and incorporate them into your routine. Here below are 6 basic myths about health and fitness which are being followed without analyzing the actual truths.

  • More fat burn on an empty stomach.

While this statement might be partly true. Some believe that working out in the morning where the body is deprived of nutrients will increase the fat-burning process. Well, working out in a fasting state is suboptimal since the lack of nutrients will not allow an individual to perform to their peak.

  • Shakes boost weight loss.

No this isn’t true. Having a whole fruit is always better than juices or shakes as it decreases the vitamins and minerals from it. Whole foods have more fiber and take up more stomach volume which keeps you feeling full for a longer time. Shakes and juices required more digestive work and help keep metabolism high, but having some fats like nuts or oils are better than shakes.

  • Eat only egg whites, avoid yolks

Egg yolks are high in cholesterol level, that’s true. But eggs won’t affect your cholesterol balance unless they’re fried in butter and served with bacon. The fat in the yolks helped to reduce LDL or the bad cholesterol and it also contains most of the vitamins and minerals in the egg, plus half the protein of the egg. Since an egg white-only breakfast is almost fat-free, it will cause a considerable insulin spike and promote hunger cravings as well as energy swings later in the day.

  • Spot reduction is possible

Spot reduction does not work. It all comes down to that layer of fat obscuring over the perfectly toned muscles. No matter how many abs exercises you do, someone with 20% body fat will never have abs like someone with 8% body fat. To lose weight quickly, you definitely do high-intensity training while following a strict diet.

  • Women’s exercises must be different than men.

When it comes to fitness, men and women are from the earth itself. Both genders have the same body structure but different hormonal make-ups, which may mean a difference in muscle strength but does not mean they should work out any differently. Men tend to focus more on abs, chest, and arms, while women tend to focus on flat belly, gluts, butt, and legs.

  • Morning is the best time to work out

The best ideal opportunity for an exercise is whatever time permits you to practice most reliably. Ideally, you need to make physical wellness a daily habit, so if late-night excursions to the exercise center are your thing, stay with it. If you prefer that you lean toward a morning run, do that. Some research recommends working out first thing in the morning might help speed weight loss by preparing to consume more fat for the day.
