7 Signs Of IBS

Irritable bowel syndrome is caused by a breakdown in communication between the gut and the brain (IBS). A functional gastrointestinal disorder is a term for this type of illness.

Although the symptoms are different for each patient, here are 7 common signs of IBS

1. Cramps

IBS causes pain and cramping in the lower abdomen, which are two of the most common symptoms. IBS alters the way the brain and stomach communicate, and it may cause the gut muscles to contract more than they should for a regular bowel movement. Lower abdominal pain and cramps can be caused by excessive gut muscular contractions.

2. Bloating

IBS might also cause you to feel bloated. Bloating happens when gas builds up in the stomach, making the belly feel full and rounder than usual. Bloating can be caused by the same things that generate excessive gas in IBS.

3. Diarrhea

Diarrhea is a common symptom of IBS. It occurs when the gut muscles contract more than they need to. Muscle cramps are a common side effect of diarrhea.

4. Constipation

Constipation is yet another sign of IBS. You might witness less than three bowel movements per week, hard, dry, or lumpy stools, difficulty or discomfort passing stool, and the sensation of an incomplete bowel movement.

5. Excessive gas

As per medical news today reports, doctors aren’t sure why this is happening, but there are a few ideas. IBS produces a bacterial imbalance in the intestines. Bacteria can produce toxins that cause excessive gas production.

Another theory is that people with IBS’s bowels are less capable of tolerating and transporting gas. People with IBS are gassier than others as a result of this.

6. Stress

Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and stress have a close association. The gut is controlled by the neurological system, which also reacts to psychological stress.

IBS and stress have a two-way relationship. IBS symptoms can be made worse by stress, and IBS physical symptoms can create psychological distress.

7. Bloating

Another symptom of IBS is bloating. Bloating is caused by a build-up of gas in the stomach, which makes the belly feel full and rounder than usual. Bloating can be caused by the same reasons that generate excessive gas in people with IBS.
