Today there are high bars set with respect to unrealistic body and beauty expectations. We idolize the pictures we come across in magazines and on social media platforms which we know are edited to perfection and yet we compare ourselves with them. They are considered to be true and idealistic. Many people try to achieve the “ideal” or “perfect figure” by going through extreme measures which are not good for their health. Sure, staying healthy is important, but it should never be at the cost of depriving yourself of food or at the cost of one’s health. There is a misconception that dieting means to starve oneself. It is often confused with cutting down the quantity of food that you eat. Weight loss through starving oneself is not a healthy option. People often reduce their eating intake to such a level where they starve to death to attain a skinny figure.
Starving yourself to attain a perfect body is not wise as it leads to many health issues. When you starve yourself trying to lose weight, your body automatically enters starvation mode and metabolism slows down. The body starts to store whatever little food it receives instead of using it, which leads to increasing your body fat.
On the other hand, dieting involves ensuring a more regulated way of food intake. Dieting tends to keep a check on the calorie intake and at the same time ensures you have access to all the nutrients, vitamins, and proteins that are needed for your body. Dieting is advantageous for weight-related problems and regulating your food intake helps to reduce it in a healthy way.
