With the horrors of global pandemic hovering over our heads, self-care and health have become an important topic of discussion. It has come to light that people with boosted immunity are more prone to survive the Coronavirus.
Here are some ways to do so-
Fruits and vegetables– Fruits the best source of vitamins and thus helping boost immunity. Vitamin C helps build our immune system. Citrus fruits like orange, lemon, mandarin and grapefruits are a huge source of vitamin C. Other fruits like papaya, kiwi, can also provide with vitamin C. Under vegetables, broccoli, capsicum, ginger, spinach, are a good source of immunity. Ginger and garlic are added to almost every dish we eat. They help fight infections and sore throat.
Yogurt- While other dairy products are said to be appetite spoiling, yogurt is a healthy choice. Rich in vitamin D, yogurt helps in fortifying the immune system. Scientists are also said to be trying to build a relationship where yogurt can be crucial in treating possible effects of Coronavirus.
Dry fruits – Nuts are an immense source of vitamin E. It does not help in fighting acute illnesses like a cough or cold but helps improving immunity. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin, which requires fats to get absorbed in our body. Hence almonds and cashews can be a preferable option.
Tea- Flavonoid is an antioxidant found in tea, both green and black tea. Green tea not only improves our immunity but also eliminates unwanted fats in our body. Green tea also contains an amino acid that fights germs.
Shellfish – Just like other vitamins and minerals, our immune system also requires a proper amount of zinc to function. Shellfish are loaded with zinc mineral. Lobsters, crabs, oysters are some of the shellfish rich with zinc in it.
Diversity in food should be practised to attain all necessary vitamins and minerals. Just surviving on one of the above foods is not ideal. Consuming more than a limited number of daily vitamins can hit back instead. Eating right is an ideal solution!!
