We are just struggling to recover from the evils of the second wave of Covid- 19 and a variant of the corona has been found. Delta Variant is a new variant of Corona i.e B.1.617.2. The newly found variant of the Covid-19 virus which has crippled our lives ever since 2019, first emerged in India. The variant has now been detected in various countries of the world. States in India that have reported Delta variant cases include Punjab, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Madhya Pradesh. The variant is considered to be more dangerous and WHO has declared the delta variant as a “Variant of concern.”
But there is a new lineage of the variant that is lingering on our heads. The Delta Plus or K417N is a new mutation of the Delta variant. It has increased transmissibility among individuals and something that is far more fearful and worrisome is that Delta Plus variant is resistant to certain therapies and drugs. According to Hindustan Times reports, Maharashtra has reported the highest number of cases of this deadly mutated virus.
According to reports, the Delta Plus variant harms us in a much faster way than the coronavirus and binds more easily to lung cells. Delta Plus variant causes fevers in individuals and people have reported being severely ill within a span of 3-4 days. Other effects according to Hindustan times reports include shortness of breath, diarrhea, skin rash, change in color of toes, abdominal pain, etc.
