The objects that are to the side of our face are seen by peripheral vision without needing to turn your head. When there is a sudden loss in peripheral vision, everything to the side seems dark whereas in the front it is clear.
The signs of blurry peripheral vision are;
1. It is difficult to carry out normal tasks in low-light conditions.
2. It makes driving at night difficult.
3. You are likely to trip more frequently over obstacles while walking.
The reason for blurry peripheral vision is as follows:
When the retina gets torn or is detached, it leads to blurry peripheral vision. The other symptoms are flashes, spots, floaters, or a shadow that obscure the field of vision. It requires immediate treatment so that it doesn’t lead to a complete loss of vision.
Glaucoma is an eye disease that occurs because of elevated pressure in the eye. It causes irreversible damage and vision loss if there is continuous pressure on the optic nerve. People with this condition have a chance to get back their visual clarity with treatment as the damage occurs at a slower rate.
The light sensitivity of the retina gets affected in retinitis pigmentosa. It is part of the eye that transfers light to the brain through the optic nerve. There is a gradual degeneration in this part of the brain when there is an intense sensitivity of the retina. It cannot be cured, however, it can be managed with proper care from the retina specialist.
