Set a goal for yourself
Tabata Training is a good option. This 4-minute practice, created by Dr. Izumi Tabata in Japan, consists of eight work/rest cycles. (For more ideas, see 5 Minute Exercises.)
Perform a dance
Dance lessons specifically tailored to sculpt and tone your body are available at many fitness establishments.
Bend with your pals
Take a yoga class with your buddies and then cook a nutritious meal together.
Increase the Volume
Fill your MP3 player with energetic, fast-paced music for cardio workouts and a gentler playlist for stretching and cooling down. To keep things interesting, shuffle your music.
Watch a Little Television
Instead of sitting in your comfortable chair, watch from your workout bike. Are you just getting started? Take a break during the commercials and continue watching your favorite show. (For more ideas, see Things to Do While Watching TV.)
Participate in social media
People who exercise with their friends, spouse, or coworkers enjoy it more, according to research performed by the University of California’s Department of Preventive Medicine.
Take a walk outside
Take a stroll, hike, bike ride, or swim instead of going to the gym.
Keep a journal
Keep track of your workouts and capture photos as you go. Having evidence of your progress can help you stay motivated.
Put your best foot forward
You don’t have to spend a lot of money on gym clothes, but wearing the wrong ones can ruin your workout by trapping sweat, chafing your skin, and causing blisters.
Don’t Overtrain
In order to function properly, your body needs recovery time in between workouts. Outside of the gym, schedule time for relaxing, reading, visiting friends, and other activities.
