Three Leafy Vegetables That Are Highly Rich In Iron

Leafy green veggies are important for a healthy diet as they are packed with all essential nutrients, vitamins, minerals and fibres. Additionally, they are low on calories.

Eating a diet filled with leafy vegetables gives you numerous health benefits. It reduces obesity and lowers the risk of heart diseases. It also keeps diabetes and cancer miles away from you.

The leafy vegetables that are rich in are spinach, collard greens and swiss chard.

1. Spinach

Spinach is rich in vital nutrients and is a perfect choice for a salad. For each 150 g of serving, it has 4 mg of iron present in it.

If you mix it with other leafy veggies, it boosts the iron in the food.

2. Swiss Chard

Swiss chard too, is dense with iron. It offers 3.4 mg of iron per 150 g serving. It is an excellent source of vitamin K, A and C and it also contains a good amount of dietary fibres. Swiss chard has 16% more iron than kale.

It is a heart healthy veggie and also promotes weight loss. It is packed with antioxidant properties that fight off various diseases.

3. Collard Greens

As part of the cruciferous family, collard greens are essential for a healthy diet. They are a rich source of vitamin K, iron and magnesium. A good amount of vitamin A, C and calcium is stored in them. One cup of collard greens contains 2.15 mg of iron. It improves bone health, controls obesity and reduces the risk of diabetes and heart diseases.
