Tips For Nail Lovers To Keep Their Nails Long And Clean

We’ve been taught since childhood to keep our nails trimmed and clean, as bacteria can spread from our nails to our mouths when we eat with our hands. Long nails, while fashionable, can serve as a breeding ground for bacteria and food, so keeping them squeaky clean is essential. Even though we are all aware of these facts, we do not always pay enough attention to cleaning and maintaining our nails. Here are some pointers to assist you in doing the same at home.

1. Every 15 days, trim your nails

Rather than remembering to cut your nails as they grow longer, it’s best to have a set procedure in place so you don’t forget. 15 days is a decent interval between two nail clipping cycles because the nails are neither too short nor too long at this point. Unless your nails grow very quickly, you can go 15 days without trimming them.

2. After trimming your nails, file them

The majority of people skip this step since they don’t see the use in filing their nails every time they clip them. Filing your nails not only gives them the form you want, but it also smooths them out so they don’t poke you later. The filing procedure provides them definition while also rounding off the edges, which eliminates all pointed ends. Most clippers come with a little filer, but if you prefer a larger filer, you may purchase one separately.

3. Soak them in hot water for a few minutes

Apart from cutting and filing, it is essential to clean your nails. A soak of warm water and liquid soap can be used to ensure that all dirt is eliminated from the little crevasses around the nails. You can use a few drops of any liquid soap to remove grime and bacteria, and you can also add a drop of any essential oil to keep your fingers from becoming too dry. Soak your nails and fingers in warm water for five minutes before washing them. Keep dirt at bay by doing this once a week.

4. When cleaning your hands, make sure your nails are clean

When we wash our hands, we usually only scrub the outside and rub our palms together, but our nails also need to be cleansed because that is where bacteria live. If you eat with your hands, this is critical. To clean your hands properly, stroke your thumb across the other nails and then your index finger around your thumbnail while washing them with soap.

5. Only use high-quality nail polish

Most women enjoy wearing nail polish all of the time, but they must remember to use high-quality products. Because your nails might become discoloured and the chemicals in these paints can be eaten when you eat, make sure you buy your nail polish from a reputable manufacturer. There are also herbal cosmetics available these days that you can try because they are safer.
