Tips on maintaining weight during the festive season

We tend to gain weight during the festive and wedding season. We eat more than the daily proportion and hence there is a chance that we might gain weight faster and it will impact on maintaining your weight for once and all. Festival season is full of sweets and other delicious recipes that are hard to resist. Such festivals encourage overeating and heavy consumption of such calorie-rich foods. The festive season fat makes a lot of the difference in a person, the increase is small but people find it difficult to lose it later on, and it might contribute greatly in your weight and is not inevitable.

So let’s have a look at these tips to control eating and gaining weight during such a festive and holiday season.

Be active

Don’t try to be lazy and sit in front of the TV and avoid doing any work. Try to help your mother in the kitchen or any other works that are carried out during this festive season. This might help you keep active and to have a calorie burn as well.

Snack on wisely

Try to watch over the snacking portions. Snacks are the most vital part of the festive food that is most calorie-rich and fat-rich and which are eaten out of control and hence lead to an increase in weight afterward.

Watch your portion size

Try to enjoy your food but at the same time watch over the portion size of your food, try to avoid overeating a particular food item. Try to have a balance of all the variety of food you eat.

Keep meals balanced

Try to have balanced meals, try to maintain your calorie intake as well as nutrition check-in all the foods, including more salads and less heavy calorie-food. Avoid sweets, they are the main item to make you gain weight.

Include fiber

Include more fiber intake in your food. Since fiber is an important nutrient that induces fullness of your body and keeps you full for a longer time. Researches have shown that increased dietary fiber can reduce total calorie intake, which may help prevent weight gain. Many common holiday foods lack fiber so try to include vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds, etc.

Limit your desert intake

Try to avoid too many sweets and desserts. Limit your intake to avoid gaining weight. You can choose one of your favorite desserts and eat it mindfully rather than binging over several deserts at once.

Avoid liquid calories

Try to avoid liquid calories such as alcohol, soda, and other drink which contains a lot of calories and sugar content which will lead to weight gain.

Use smaller plates

Using a smaller plate is the best hack to control your portions and to ensure you eat moderately. A smaller plate can ensure you eat lesser than usual and also have control over your eating.
