Trace element arsenic is found in various food items such as poultry, seafood, bread, grains, cereal products, mushrooms and dairy products. It is present naturally in some foods in small amounts, however, its functions are not clear.
There are other forms of arsenic like medicine and they tend to have serious side effects as well. Arsenic trioxide is given by the health care professionals by IV to treat blood cancer which is also called acute promyelocytic leukemia.
· It is effective for treating specific cancer of white blood cells, leukemia. However, arsenic trioxide and trisenox is available on prescription only.
It is used for treating various other conditions mentioned below but its evidence is not sufficient.

· Scaly, itchy skin (psoriasis)
· Rheumatoid arthritis (RA)
· Many other conditions
There are other uses of arsenic as well which can be traced from history such as pharmaceuticals, agricultural chemicals, wood preservatives and it is also used in mining, glass-making, metallurgical and semiconductor industries.
Arsenic when consumed through normal foods is normal because arsenic present in natural foods is not harmful. However, consuming other forms of arsenic can be highly unsafe. It can also be poisonous and so avoid taking arsenic supplements.
According to WebMD reports, 5 mg or less dose of arsenic can cause digestive tract symptoms and a higher dose might lead to severe poisoning and even death.
Drinking water which is contaminated by inorganic arsenic can result in cancer, heart problems and diabetes.
