The behavioural and emotional problems that begin in childhood or adolescence is known as conduct disorder. People or children with this disorder find it difficult to follow the rules or behave in a socially accepted manner.
People with conduct disorders possess behaviour such as destructive, aggressive and deceitful. Their behaviours tend to violate the rights of others.
Conduct disorders are categorised into 3 types:
· Childhood : the symptoms of conduct disorders occur before the age of 10 years.
· Adolescent : The symptoms of conduct disorders occur during the teenage years.
· Unspecified: The symptoms of conduct disorders occur at an unknown age.
The children you experience conduct disorders are unwilling to follow any rules and act impulsively without thinking about the consequences of their actions. Other people’s feelings do not matter to them and they are hard to control.
The major signs of a conduct disorders are:
· Aggressive conduct: They might intimidate or bully their classmates or friends. People with conduct disorders often harm people and animals physically. They may also engage in rape and can use dangerous weapons.
· Destructive behaviour: They might try to cause intentional destruction to a property.
· Violate rules: Conduct disorders make people skip school or run away from home. At a very tender age, they may resort to drug or alcohol use.
· Deceitful behaviour: People with conduct disorders often spew lies and participate in stealing, forgery and break in.
Conduct disorders are a caused either by genetic factors or by environmental factors such as child abuse, poverty and a dysfunctional family.
