5 Bollywood Movie Shots Inspired From Hollywood

It has been well known that the Indian film business has often slapped originality in the face by shamelessly plagiarising entire stories from other films.

However, every once in a while, movie directors and scriptwriters come up with an original concept but wind up copying scenes from other films, perhaps out of habit?

Here are 5 times Bollywood movie shots were inspired from Hollywood

1. Dabangg 2010 – Sherlock Holmes 2009

While Sherlock uses a white handkerchief to confuse his opponents, Salman Khan uses his blood to distract Sonu Sood. The sole difference between the two battle scenes is this. From Chulbul Pandey punching Cheddi Singh in slow motion to kicking him in the abdomen, everything was staged scene by scene.

2. Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005) – FRIENDS (1994)

Another movie starring Salman Khan and Arshad Warsi, another sequence plagiarised, this time from the super-hit fan favourite FRIENDS. Warsi tells Sushmita Sen, who is on a plane, to get off because something is wrong with the jet’s left magwheel, in the first few minutes of the film.

In FRIENDS, Phoebe says the same thing to Rachel to get her off the plane (actually, she says the left phalange), but the rest of the scene is identical, including a random third person’s overreaction.

3. Jumping the bridge scene in Dhamal (2007) – Road Trip(2000)

Dhamaal changed the way Indian comedy films were made. The film, which was released in 2007, went on to establish a large fanbase and is still adored by audiences. When four boys decide to jump off the collapsing bridge, it becomes one of the most popular scenes in the film. The entire scenario is a ripped off Todd Philip’s 2000 film Road Trip.

4. The Matrix(1999)- Awara Pagal Deewana(2002)

The Matrix’s classic moment in which Neo storms the building and reveals his arsenal of weapons is a masterpiece. The scenario made perfect sense in the first chapter of The Matrix in 1999, but it made absolutely no sense in Akshay Kumar’s Awara Pagal Deewana in 2002.

5. Night at the Museum(2006)- Housefull(2010)

Ben Stiller’s Night at the Museum, released in 2006, was a pleasant movie. The film was well-received not only in Hollywood, but also worldwide. The slap money scene has become one of the most popular scenes in the film. In the 2010 film Housefull, director Sajid Khan used creative licence to recreate the same scenario with Akshay Kumar.
