F.R.I.E.N.D.S. is still the most popular TV show, even after 17 years since it last aired on TV. Once we start viewing it, it becomes ingrained in our minds. We begin to form bonds with the main characters. F.R.I.E.N.D.S. teaches us numerous life lessons.
Here are 7 life lessons F.R.I.E.N.D.S teaches us.
1. Life isn’t always kind
Through its characters, the show brilliantly depicts how life isn’t always fair to us. Throughout the seasons, all of the key characters have had their ups and downs. But they never give up. Among all of their troubles, their friendship was the one thing that kept them going. And that is exactly what we require in our lives. People we can put our faith in and look up to.
2. Don’t be frightened to try again
Whether it was when Rachel shredded her credit cards to start a new life on her own, or when Chandler quit his job to pursue his dreams. They all realized that losing was not the end of the world. They taught us starting over is okay and it’s never too late to pursue our dreams.
3. It’s fine if things don’t always go according to plan
In one of the episodes Rachel says, “I’ve got magic beans” and that’s when she understood that, while she didn’t have the money, a great life, or marriage-like her other wealthy friends, she could still be happy. Her life hasn’t exactly gone as planned, but she has true, strange, and lovely friends.
4. Never be ashamed of being strange or unusual
Each character in the show had a distinct personality that was far from conventional. They, on the other hand, took pride in themselves and managed to win our hearts.
5. True love always finds a way to sort things out in the end
Do you recall how the “lobsters” came back together? How did Mike and Phoebe finally commit to each other after all the ups and downs? Chandler and Monica, the most diametrically opposed and ideal couple, found love under the most hopeless of circumstances.
6. Don’t be concerned with what others may think of you
Phoebe had the oddest stories to tell (she once believed her mother was reborn as a cat), and we won’t forget the day she sang along with bagpipes. She was never concerned about what others may think of her. She was always unapologetically herself.
7. We aren’t defined by our past
Each character had their unique set of challenges, yet they all went on to achieve success in their own way, demonstrating that change is possible. Each character taught us that our past doesn’t define us.
