Hima Das, an Indian sprinter known as Dhing Express, was born in Assam on January 9, 2000. She is the first Indian athlete to take home a gold medal in a track competition overseas. In front of Assam’s chief minister, Sarbanada Sonowal, the famous sprinter was just named the state’s Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP). When she was still a child, her family’s financial situation was not great, and they worked great to provide for her in order for her to pursue a career. Even back then, she competed in the district-level 100-meter and 200-meter races, winning the gold medal in each.
Despite a number of the obstacles in her way, she persisted in pursuing her dream. India has received a message of perseverance from Hima Das. She fulfilled her aspirations by winning the 400m gold and the global junior title at the Tampere, Finland, venue of the 2018 IAAF World Under-20 Championships. Her winning time of 51.46 seconds set a stunning Indian record. Her success gave India cause for celebration. By taking the position of Assam’s DSP, she has now fulfilled her aspiration of working in law enforcement.
Hima Das won the women’s 400-meter silver medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta. She also competed in the women’s and mixed relay teams for the 4x400m, where she took home a gold medal. Sentinel Assam reported that she received the esteemed Arjuna Award in 2018 for her assiduousness.
