Audrey Kathleen Ruston, commonly known as Audrey Hepburn, was a British actress and philanthropist who was born on May 4, 1929, in Belgium and died on January 20, 1993, in Switzerland. She is well-known for her stunning beauty and style, as well as her endearing innocence and persistent efforts to help children in need. In her early twenties, she studied acting and began working as a model and dancer, and she also began to receive modest film roles attributed as Audrey Hepburn. Her first major picture, Roman Holiday, earned her an Academy Award for best actress. She began her new profession as a goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Fund in 1988, touring famine-stricken villages around Latin America, Asia, and Africa until her death in 1993.
