The Shiv Sena, a right-wing Marathi party, was founded by Indian politician Bal Keshav Thackeray, popularly known as Balasaheb Thackrey. In the state of Maharashtra, this party maintained and concentrated its influence. He was a vocal opponent of the city of Mumbai’s rising non-Marathi immigration. Through his comic weekly diary Marmik and campaigning, he disseminated this message loud and clear.
To advance this ethos, he established the Shiv Sena party and got more involved in politics. His goal was to give Maharashtrians the job security they needed in their state because they were in competition with Gujaratis, Marwaris, and South Indian immigrants. His supporters referred to him as the “Hindu Hriday Samraat,” which is Hindi for “Emperor of the Hindu Heart,” or as the “Godfather of Maharashtra.” His party pushed for Hinduism to become the nation’s official religion and for India to lose its constitutionally guaranteed status as a secular state. In honor of the goddess Mumbadevi, he changed the name of Bombay to Mumbai.
Despite the fact that Thackeray admired Adolf Hitler, he claimed that only Muslims who violate the law are to be opposed. This took place in Mumbai during the anti-Muslim riot. The Maharashtrians liked and respected Balasaheb Thackrey for his devotion to the nation and its citizens. He is now regarded as a brave man.
