Peace is very important to keep the world going. And several times, this peace has been endangered through world wars, mob lynching, genocide, etc. And at such times, courageous people came forward to protect the peace.

1) Mother Teresa: The lady received the Nobel Peace Prize as she dedicated her life to looking after the sick and poor. She founded the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta.
2)Nelson Mandela: Mandela stood as the strong head of peaceful and armed protest against segregation to hit South Africa. He received Nobel Peace Prizes in 1993 and 1994.
3) Mahatma Gandhi: Gandhi is world famous. His ideas of nonviolence are ideal for the world. Gandhi led the Indians through Salt March and the country’s fight to gain independence.
4)Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.: The king was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. But his life was cut short when he got assassinated. Nevertheless, he was a key leader during the American Civil Rights Movement, bringing about a revolution.
5) Malala Yousafzai: The girl spent her youth advocating for children and women for their basic rights in Pakistan. A Taliban gunman shot her, but she survived. As a result, Malala became the youngest one to receive the Nobel Peace Prize.
6)Harriet Tubman: Harriet Tubman was an abolitionist before the American Civil War. She escaped her slavery to set other enslaved people to freedom. She said she wished she would have saved more lives.
