Ali spent most of his early years in Miami, Florida, practicing at the 5th Street Gym. Interestingly, Ali prioritised callisthenics over lifting weights. Jumping rope was a normal part of his routine, with 10-30 min set aside for it. Many thought he was one of the greatest jump ropers in fighting, and that his agility in the ring was assisted by it.
Running was an important element of his preparation since speed and the ability to retain energy for 15 rounds were crucial for a wrestler. He increased the leg exercise by wearing heavy boots. Ali loved running and preferred it over cars or buses.
