The Indian sprinter Hima Das nicknamed as Dhing Express born on 9th January 2000 comes from the state of Assam. She is the first Indian athlete to win a gold medal at an international track event.
Recently this year, the star sprinter was appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) of Assam in the presence of the chief minister Sarbanada Sonowal.
The financial conditions of her family were not so good when she was still a child and struggled a lot in supporting her for pursuing her career. Even then she participated in the district level 100 meters race and 200 meters race in which she secured a gold medal.
No matter the hurdles that crossed her path, she kept on moving ahead aspiring her dream. Hima Das has given India the message of persistence.
She made her dreams come true by becoming the world junior champion and winning the 400m gold at the IAAF World Under -20 Championships 2018 held at Tampere, Finland.
By completing the race in 51.46 seconds she made a glorious record for India. Her achievement was a moment of pride for India. And has now accomplished her dream job by becoming the DSP of the state of Assam.
Hima Das is a silver medal winner in the Asian Games in the women’s 400m held at Jakarta. She also participated in the 4x400m women’s and mixed relay teams where she won a gold medal.
According to Sentinelassam reports, in 2018 she was awarded the prestigious Arjuna Award for her diligence.
