The movie Shawshank Redemption is about Andy Dufresne who was a successful banker and he was imprisoned for the killings of his wife and her lover and is given lifetime imprisonment at the Shawshank prison. The movie is about how he becomes the most unique prisoner.

1. Hope is the best thing
One of the central themes of the movie is Hope. Through the film, we can see how the notion of hope is debated between the main characters.
The characters from the movie always depict, how important it is to have hope, even in a difficult situation. Because we never know what turns our life can take. No matter who many difficulties they face they have hope that they will come out of that difficulty.
2. If you don’t take chances you’ll never know
In the movie, when Andy was in jail, he tried to take different chances and risks because he knew one or the other day he will escape. Until you take chances, you never going to know if you will be successful or not.
The value of your life is regulated by the number of chances you are ready to grasp and the opportunities that you are ready to take. When you move outside of your comfort zone and raise yourself to be better, to take chances, only then your life has some importance, if you don’t take a chance your life will just be boring.
3. Your time is everything
Going through lifetime imprisonment would be enough to discourage even the most will full person. Despite this, Andy was ready to make use of his time the best he can.
Because Andy Knew he can’t change what has already happened but just sitting and wasting your time is not an option, instead, he used his time to make his way out of prison.
4. Things don’t always go according to plan
Andy was an investment banker and a smart person. He possibly had several things planned for his future. But, things took a fierce turn when he discovers that his wife was cheating on him. And on top of that he was mistakenly charged with killing her and her lover for revenge and he was punished to life imprisonment.
Andy of course didn’t expect a life-shattering event was coming his way, but when it did, he kept calm and confident and thought about what he can do for his future.
So making all the pans for the future and thinking like, “only this is going to happen in my life”, is not an option, but instead, keep yourself ready for any other plans or situations that come across your way.
