There are different types of parents depending upon the way you treat your child and raise them.
What is Authoritarian Parenting?
In India, this parenting style can be seen in most of the houses. This type of parenting provides explicit instructions to the kids regarding what they should do and what they should not. Most Indian children are subjected to physical and verbal abuse. In short, authoritarian parenting simply tries to mold the child, but in the long term, it might backfire. Here are the disadvantages of it.
1) Lies: When parents put too much pressure, the children take the help of lies to avoid being discovered. Children lie to protect their interests and avert confrontations.
2) Loose Direction: Controlling becomes the main goal of authoritarian parenting, and in such cases, the child tends to lose interest. They do what their parents say and lose their will to achieve excellence.
3) Aggressive: Children with authoritarian parents are likely to be aggressive. This happens because of the surroundings they are living in. It becomes difficult for them to cope with things. Rather, they react aggressively.
4) Low Self-esteem: Children with authoritarian parents have lower self-confidence and self-esteem. This is because they find it difficult to express and they worry too much.
5) Unsatisfied: When the children are always shouted at, scolded, and restricted, they start to feel unsatisfied with their life. They find others’ lives better than theirs.
