5 Habits To Adopt Before Appearing For An Interview

Before going for an interview, it is important to be prepared well as it will determine how well you do during one. Many prospective applicants prepare for interviews and assess their strengths and shortcomings in order to achieve the best results. This ensures that they provide effective and meaningful responses to all questions. Here are habits you must adopt before appearing for an interview that will help you perform better.

1) Research about the company

Prepare for the interview by learning about the company’s history, beliefs, and mission. First, look at their official website, then look at other sources. Examine any client, customer, or employee reviews to see if there are any repeating themes that could influence your decision to work with them.

2) Conduct a mock interview

Another habit you can adopt is to conduct a mock interview with someone who has interviewing skills. A mock interview can be conducted by curating a list of questions. Encourage them to think of or discover new questions without telling you what they’re looking for.

At the end of the interview, take whatever advice they have on how to improve your performance.

3) Dress for the role

Before you go for an interview ensure you dress well for the role you are interviewing for. Dressing well for an interview is important. Planning and select an outfit that is suited for the role. Make sure you have a clean set of clothes at least a day before your interview. To remove creases from formal clothing, iron and press them. Also, carry makeup and deodorant in case you need to touch up your appearance before your interview.

4) Print copies of your bio-data

Keep your resume handy while you appear for an interview. Print out copies beforehand and carry them along with yourself for the interview.

5) Phones on Silent or airplane mode

Carrying your phone is a must. However, consider turning it off or silencing it if you don’t need it. Make sure your phone doesn’t emit any vibrations or other tones that can disrupt the interview.
