1. Register in a culinary arts program to get an all-around education.

Chefs are not obliged to attend culinary school, although it may help you land a career. Most culinary programmes cover nutrition, sanitary food preparation, butchery, pastry making, and other fundamental cooking skills. Make a list of your best 3-5 culinary programmes and apply to them.

2. If you want to be a self-taught chef, you can train at home.

While attending a culinary school will help you master the skills you need, you may want to teach yourself. Every day, practise cooking in your kitchen. To gain more experience, prepare meals for your family or host gatherings in your home. To help you gain the skills you need, push yourself out of your comfort zone.
