5 Ways To Manage Work Return Anxiety

When you reflect on the previous two years of living under lockdown while a pandemic wreaks devastation outside, it’s a strange sensation. Who would have believed that we would start to prefer working from home over enduring traffic and long subway rides?

However, as incidences have decreased, employers have been inviting workers back to the workplace. Due to the epidemic, many people had returned to their hometowns. Now that they have been asked to start working again, they must begin their return, which requires house shopping and saying goodbye to the comforts of home.

1. Acknowledge and accept your troubles

The first step in addressing the problem’s cause is to acknowledge and comprehend it. Check what is stressing you out and how it is impacting you first, then take action. Next, take it slow and attempt to relax by partaking in any activity of your choosing.

For instance, if you are experiencing stress due to a move that is upsetting your emotional balance and interfering with your job, you should first admit and accept that this is the cause of your stress.

2. Ease yourself into a discipline during the transition phase

Companies often provide residential staff with at least a week or two of vacation off and outstation personnel a few extra days.

You have a lot to go through, especially after settling into the work-from-home habit for the previous two years, so take advantage of the adjustment period to ease back into your regular workday schedule.

3. Take one day at a time and plan accordingly

You’re anxious since you just got the email telling you to go back to work. The most intelligent course of action is to take each day as it comes rather than stressing out over potential outcomes. Breathe!

As you always did before work from home existed or even when it did, sit down and make a strategy for your day. Make a note of the days you must be at work and organize your week’s workload appropriately.

4. Address your concerns

Your next move is to take care of your worries. Yes, the virus’s effects may have diminished but not entirely disappeared, and it is normal to worry about the safety precautions put in place.

Once you are notified that you will be going back to work, you can contact HR or your manager and ask any questions you may have. You may get insight from this and use it to make the appropriate preparations for yourself.

5. Take serious account of your symptoms

It’s normal to feel apprehensive because our lives have changed significantly over the past two years, and going back to work might throw a wrench in your comfortable routine and way of life.

Now, how each person is affected by this news will vary. While some people could feel completely unaffected, others might feel overpowered. Ask for assistance if you are experiencing significant anxiety or nervousness rather than ignoring it.
