The uniform nomenclature of seven security forces of India which is under the authority of the Ministry of Home Affairs is the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF).
The Central Armed Police Forces examination (CAPF) is a government recruitment exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). You received the post of Assistant Commandant.
The role of Assistant Commandant (AC) is to guard borders and industrial corridors. Apart from that they lead an army of 150 armed personnel. They are usually deployed for conducting elections and to maintain normalcy.
The AC has to plan, conduct operations and ensure proper training to keep the army prepared for any operations.
UPSC conducts CAPF exams once every year and since it involves a long process, it takes over a year to complete this exam.
Eligibility Criteria
- Non-citizens Indians are not eligible unless they have a consent from the Central Government signed in writing to be appointed or employed.
- Both male and female are eligible for the post.
- Every candidate must hold a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised government university.
- Candidates who have appeared for the qualifying exams and have still not got their result can apply for the CAPF exam.
- The age limit to apply is 20 to 25 years old. An upper age limit of five years can be relaxed for people belonging to SC/ST category.
The UPSC CAPF has a lot of scope for career growth with a good amount of salary. The salary also increases with promotions and responsibilities that follow.
