ADN stands for Associate Degree in Nursing. An ADN nurse is a healthcare professional who has education on an associated level. To be a registered nurse (RN) they have to pass the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN). Although the exam is extensive and rigorous, it makes sure that the nurse is qualified to offer safe and effective care for the patients.
Usually ADN nurses work alongside RN’s who secures a four-year bachelor degree. The RN nurses have better opportunities to specialize or take some leadership opportunities.
However, both the nurses are trained enough to look after and take care of their patients.
ADN nurses usually work in physician’s offices, nursing care facilities, outpatient clinics and you’d even find them in the patient’s home.
According to BLS, the annual median salary for all RNs is around $71,730. Also, the employment of registered nurses is supposed to grow rapidly in the coming years.
The students who are pursuing an associate degree in nursing must complete courses in subjects such as anatomy, nursing basics, microbiology, mental health nursing and more. As per your NCLEX requirement, you need to complete your clinical hours.
