Before you go out, warn your pal that they may expect an urgent SMS or phone call from you wanting to be saved. It really doesn’t matter what they say, you’re not obligated to tell a story. Simply answer the phone, look surprised and concerned, end the conversation, and quickly remark, “I have to go.” ‘It’s an urgent matter,’ and get out of there. The only drawback is that it’s a little overused!
Even if you really desire another drink, having a second round can show a guy that you love his presence. Have just one if you are certain you will never see him again. Hold your drink or explain to him you’re not a heavy drinker or that you have a task or something else to do once you get home and don’t want to be woozy, just saying “no, thanks” should suffice.
Tell the manager or an employee of the serving staff if you feel anxious or uncomfortable for any reason. They can come by your booth or your lounge area more regularly to check on you. Then you can make a reason and leave from there. They will provide the help if they are aware of the situation.
