A toxic relationship can educate people who have never been able to stand up for themselves how to do so, as well as how to no longer tolerate the lies, manipulation, and Nonsense and instead fight back and get the heck out.
Even if you’re in a relationship, putting yourself first is not selfish. You’re more likely to be in sync with your relationship and perceive it for what it is when you put yourself first and practice a healthy level of self-care.
You can better protect yourself if you understand the importance of having boundaries. Boundaries are frequently overstepped and ignored in toxic relationships. You can continue to guard yourself against sliding down another harmful rabbit hole if you learn to set limits early on and stick to them.
