When any of us sees a newly wedded couple looking like love birds together, we immediately become curious and ask them about how they met. Then it turns out to be a high school love story or a childish rivalry in a workplace turning into something special. But what if you hear that the couple didn’t meet accidentally and were actually arranged to get married to each other? Arranged marriage is still a system to bind people eternally in many parts of the world. That arises a question whether the couple falls in true love or it just becomes a compulsion?
40-50% marriages in the United States end up in divorce of which only 4% are arranged marriages. That tells us the arranged marriages are very less prone to end up in divorce. In many cases, it is not up to the couples to get married. India, Pakistan, China and Japan still have traditions to involve youngsters in arranged marriages irrespective of their wishes. However, some couple happily chooses to perform an arranged marriage out of immense respect and love they have towards their parents. They believe that their parents will only choose the best partner for them. Some people are just tired of dating multiple individuals and still not being able to find ‘the one’. They resort to an arranged marriage just out of tiredness and hope to find a perfect partner.
Talking about love, it is a highly complicated emotion. A relationship based on love before marriage seems like a perfect choice but for some reason, it also becomes the reason for highest divorced marriages. In an arranged marriage, you don’t get years to know everything about your partner. But while you are together and you imagine yourself with each other spending you married life happily, it doesn’t seem like a bad decision. Additionally, it is more formal than a love marriage. This formality allows you to respect each other’s privacy, behave decently around each other and give each other the space they need every day. This is one of the main reasons why an arranged married couple doesn’t fight as much as a loving couple. Being in an arranged marriage is like those initial days of a new relationship, which is very cute and adorable, for the rest of their lives. And when there is such happiness in a relationship, love eventually finds its way.
