Then the best choice is to stay away from that person. Social media is a place where unknown people or known people talk to each other and get updates about almost everything happening in a person’s life. If your ex is trying to message you constantly on any of your social media accounts, then blocking him is the best way to ignore his message. By blocking him, he won’t be able to message you again.
You might most probably know the favorite place of your ex or the place he visits the most. So stop going to that places, as he may also come there. Stop going to that place doesn’t mean you should never go to that place, it just means that don’t go there for some months after your breakup.
When you two where in a relationship, you may have made some mutual friends and now they might be close to you. A breakup doesn’t mean you also have to break your friendship with them. Meet them, but remember your ex shouldn’t be there.
