Many believe the ‘Fast and Furious’ films are only about fast cars and gravity-defying stunts, however, in reality, they’re about a set of people who are bound together by the bonds of family.
The audience is left with three key themes: family, loyalty, and forgiveness. At the beginning and end of the film, the furious family pulls together, exemplifying true family unity. The last scene depicts all of the characters on the rooftop of a Manhattan condominium. Right after Dominic introduces his son as Brian, the family joins hands in prayer for their meal and camaraderie before the scene goes out. If there is one thing we can learn from this film, it is the value of family.
1. Family always comes first, because when then-undercover detective Brian O’ Conner (Paul Walker) chose to jeopardize his job by allowing Dom Toretto (Vin Diesel) to flee in ‘The Fast and the Furious.’
2. You always make time to spend with family, as in when la familia returns to the Toretto home for a sit-down meal. They may have lost some friends along the way, but they also added some new ones.
3. Just because you aren’t related by blood doesn’t mean you can’t make a significant contribution to someone’s life. Dom’s touching pre-heist speech in “Fast Five” exemplifies this point.
4. Your actual family believes in your ability to accomplish anything you set your mind to… even if it takes a little – ahem – a sheer force to make you see it.
5. A family is similar to a tree in that the branches may grow in different directions, but the roots remain the same. Even if you decide to part ways, the relationship you share stays unbroken.
