5 Most Weird traditions In The World You Should Know

Traditions fluctuate according to culture. Some are outright odd, while others are quite lovely.
Here are 5 most weird tradition in the world as mentioned by India Times

1. Bhutanese ‘Night Hunting’

Young men seeking love and marriage come out at night for a different kind of hunt, known as Bomena in the Himalayan kingdom’s eastern regions. They break into the rooms of suitable spinsters and stay there all night. If they are exposed, they must either marry the girl or work in her father’s fields as a kind of punishment.

Today, as women are subjected to rape and invasions of privacy, this custom is hotly challenged.

2.The Satere-Mawe tribe’s Bullet Ant Gloves

When the boys of this Amazonian tribe reach puberty, they must prove their manhood in a gruelling and horrifying ceremony. Bullet ants are captured by the young guys, who are then drugged and placed in woven mittens by a medicine man.

The sting of a bullet ant is considered to be comparable to a bullet striking flesh. The young men must next dance for ten minutes while wearing the mitts on their hands to distract themselves from the agony. This ceremony must be performed at least 20 times by Satere-Mawe men during their lifetime.

3. After-marriage bathroom ban

The Tidong community in Indonesia prohibits newlywed spouses from using the restroom for three days following their wedding. Breaking the observational norms will bring them poor luck in their married life, such as stillbirth and death.

The couple’s relatives oversee them for three days, after which they are bathed and allowed to answer their natural instincts.

4. Tooth Filing, Bali

Balinese men and women have their teeth filed in preparation for marriage, much like we do with our nails. Smooth teeth represent the ability to manage immoral emotions such as lust, greed, rage, and envy. These are the marks of a person’s transition into adulthood, and it’s a difficult and painful process.

5. Thaipusam

Thaipusam, a Hindu holiday celebrated in Southern India and Southeast Asia, commemorates Lord Murugan’s victory over an evil entity. While in a trance, devotees pierce themselves with sharp objects via various regions of their body. Some people even pull vehicles with hooks pierced through their backs.
