The main food of Kerala is largely influenced by the history and culture of the state. It’s a mixture of both vegetarian and non-vegetarian choices. Rice, fish, and coconut are the greatest common ingredients of almost all Kerala’s famous food.
The food of Kerala is very tasty and an individual should try it at least once.

1. Idiyappam With Curry

Idiyappam is one of the popular dishes of Kerala. It is enjoyed by most people. It is also known as Noolappam in Kerala cuisine. Idiyappam is prepared by using rice flour, salt, and water with several thin strands or sevai intertwined together to make the beautiful texture that this dish holds.

2. Erissery

One of the well-known dishes of Kerala is Erissery and one must really try it. It is enjoyed by travelers as well as local people in Kerala. It is generally made by slightly boiling sweet pumpkins with salt, chilies and pepper, dried lentils, coconut, turmeric, cumin, and garlic, and is served with rice once it is cooked.

3. Puttu And Kadala Curry

Puttu and Kandala curry is considered to be one of the prominent traditional Kerala dishes. Puttu is a cylindrical steamed rice cake that is boiled in a mold with grated coconut.

4. Kerala Style Prawn Curry

This popular food of Kerala should be tried. Especially all prawn lovers. The popular prawn curry of Kerala is sprinkled with chili and pepper and is then cooked in coconut milk and jaggery and finally garnished with curry leaves.

5. Karimeen Pollichathu

One of Kerala’s largely traditional food, Karimeen Pollichathu is made out of the Pearl Spot Fish, a speckled fish normally found in the backwaters. Karimeen Pollichathu is initially a Syrian Christian delicacy but has presently become part of the vibrant Kerala cuisine. The recipe is prepared by marinating the fish in a blend of lemon juice and red chilies and then wrapped and baked in plantain leaves.

6. Nadan Beef

Nadan Beef is among the greatly famous Kerala dishes that are either roasted or cooked in a thick sauce. It is cooked to perfection for that exact melt-in-the-mouth consistency before being served. It can be eaten with chapati, or rice.

7. Erachi Varutharacha Curry

It is a traditional cuisine of Kerala. The preparation of this dish usually includes frying and grating the spices before mixing them in mutton, onions, and tomatoes. You can never have a mutton curry as tasty as this.

8. Nadan Kozhi Varuthathu

It is served on a banana leaf, the chicken is fried with onion, garlic, chilli, vinegar, and coriander. This specific dish is absolutely delicious. The pure taste of this dish is going to captivate you to have this dish again and again.
