Even if the Caracal is confused with Lynx an important point of difference between the two is that species of Lynx are spotted and blotched, while the caracal shows no such markings on the coat.
Caracals are very stunning cats.
Caracals are found mostly in the regions of Africa and from the Arabian Peninsula through northwest India.
Caracals are strictly carnivorous.
They prey mainly on birds, rodents, and small antelopes. Like most of the cats, caracals also stalk their prey before pouncing on it. In regions of human settlement, these cats sometimes consume poultry.
From head to tail, the caracal measures 33-48 inches comprising their tail. They are the heaviest of the small African cats their weight starts from 25-40 pounds and Male caracals are generally larger than females caracal.
They possess short, reddish-brown fur on their back and sides, and they have white fur on their chin, throat, and belly.
The most notable thing on the caracal is, long tufts of black fur on the top of the caracal’s ears, which are long and slender. Even if Caracals are sometimes called desert lynx they are not actually members of the lynx family though several people confuse them with lynx because of their ear tufts.
