Incredible India: 5 Best Holiday Destinations In India

India’s tourist appeal is limitless. Whether it’s magnificent monuments bursting with the legacies of many empires, UNESCO-accredited sites, ancient temples, or the basic pleasures of living as viewed through the lens of local food, markets, people, and their jobs, there’s something for everyone. India is a lively country full of surprising contrasts, where traditional and modern cultures converge.

Here are 5 best holiday destinations in India

1. The Taj Mahal, Agra

The Taj Mahal, India’s most recognized structure is also the world’s most famous testament to the power of love. This most exquisite of mausoleums, named after Mumtaz Mahal, Emperor Shah Jahan’s favorite wife, was begun in 1631 and took 20,000 workers until 1648 to complete.

The Taj Mahal is mostly made of white marble with intricate floral inlay designs and valuable and semi-precious stones including jade, lapis lazuli, diamonds, and mother of pearl.

The greatest time to visit is either at dawn or dusk, when the lighting transforms the ambiance dramatically.

2. The Golden Temple, Amritsar

Amritsar is a major historical and cultural center for the Sikhs. Harmandir Sahib, which was built in 1604 and is still known as the Golden Temple because of its ornate gold decorations, is the main attraction here.

The temple was created in a mix of Hindu and Islamic traditions, with ornate inlaid floral and animal motifs on the bottom marble part, and a big golden dome that resembles a lotus blossom, a symbol of purity to Sikhs.

3. Kerala’s Backwaters

Cruising in the backwaters of Kerala on well-equipped houseboats is a truly unique and unforgettable experience. Kerala’s houseboats are one of the state’s main attractions. The best time to visit is between October to February in the milder months.

4. The beaches of Goa

Goa, India’s smallest state, is located on the western coast and has stunning coastlines that reach along the Arabian Sea. Goa’s main attraction is its gorgeous beaches, each with its own distinct personality.

The beaches in the north are typically more developed and action-packed, whilst the beaches in the south are generally quieter. Among the beaches, you can visit are Anjuna, Palolem, Mandrem, and Agonda.

5. Rajasthan

Rajasthan, which literally translates to “Land of the Kings,” is India’s most colorful state and home to some of the country’s most Instagrammable locations. The beautiful forts and palaces created by the heroic Rajputs astonish visitors.

You can spend days admiring the City Palace, Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds), Jal Mahal (Water Palace), Amber Fort, Nahargarh Fort, and Jantar Mantar if you are interested.
